One of the reasons this album was named Robbed! is because Rob Riley did the vast majority of the guitar work on the album. It’s stellar work—I’ve never heard him better. Rob is a veteran of several successful Twin Cities rock bands, including Austin Healy and Roller. He’s the owner/operator of RRileymusic.com and takes on music recording/producing projects by the dozens. If you happen to be short of a guitarist or bassist for your session, he’s happy to fill-in. Ready considers it quite lucky that his long-time drummer friend, Greg Prince, introduced him to Rob just before recording of this album commenced. If you’re doing recording in the Twin Cities area, you would be well advised to give Rob a call and see if he can take on one more project.

An odd side note: The guitar solo on “Howard and Robin” plays 3 eighth notes later than Rob had written it. It was simply placed into the song from the flash drive with differing zero points between the two collaborator’s Pro Tools sessions. The error wasn’t discovered for a few months, and by then Ready had fallen in love with the placement of the solo, declaring it “the coolest, most original solo I’ve ever heard.” Rob was not quite as enthusiastic about it being played differently than he’d written it. To settle the issue, they played a game of ‘spin the cat,’ and Ready prevailed.

About the guitarist/collaborator, Rob Riley

Update: Rob was the victim of a botched surgery that has led to his incapacitation. He's rarely able to get out of bed and can no longer play guitar. Unfortunately, nothing can be done, medically. It's a heartbreaking situation for Rob and those who love him. Prayers are appreciated. Miracles are what's needed.
